How to Properly Itemize Fees on Your Retail Installment Contract

It is common for dealers to put all of their fees, except for their doc fee, into a single License & Registration line item.

Texas Finance Code 348.005 and Texas Administrative Code 84.808 (8)(E) state that the fees must be itemized into title, inspection, license & registration, and any additional deputy charges.
‍

The Inspection Station and Inspection State fees must be separately disclosed on the contract.
‍

You will have to refund the customer for the amount of the improperly disclosed fees plus finance charge if the fees are not properly disclosed.
